According to main European perspectives, worldwide microcomponents demand will increase significantly in fields such as automotive, medicine, electronics and biotechnology amongst others. The application of microfabrication technologies is consequently strategic to develop new businesses and innovative products in these emerging markets. The main goal of the conference is to… …present a general view of the existing technologies to manufacture micro-components, describing the possibilities that they offer as well as new application fields. The following microtechnologies will be presented: ▪ MicroEDM ▪ Mechanical Micromachining ▪ Laser Micromachining ▪ Metallic mass-production (microforming & MIM) ▪ Plastic mass-production (Micro Injection & hot-embossing) ▪ Metrology and control techniques For each of those technologies, internationally prestigious researchers will describe current state of the art and trends, and satisfactorily developed industrial applications will be exposed. Likewise, successful cooperation experiences amongst companies, academia and RTCs will be shown in research projects at Spanish (Micromanufacturing) and European (Launch-Micro) national level. Finally, commercial sessions will take place during the coffee breaks and lunch time. Relevant companies from the micromanufacturing field will expose their products to the attendees in the stands. The conference aims to be a forum for companies, research centres and innovation departments in the microfabrication area.
